Level 1 lessons

Basic information about these lessons...

The Level 1 lessons are for beginners and elementary students. In this level there are 10 lessons in total.

What you will learn...

These lessons will teach you the fundamentals of the Czech language, such as how to introduce yourself, say goodbye, say greeting phrases and polite phrases, phrases that are related to age, birthday, the weather, the months, and the days of the week. I consider these lessons to be a good beginning for a new language.

Structure of each lesson...

Each lesson has 2 files – a PDF file and an audio file (MP3 format). In the PDF there is a transcription of the audio file (in the left column) together with an English translation (in the right column). The English translation is there to help you understand the correct meaning of the Czech sentence. Sometimes it is actually difficult to guess the meaning, and that can be frustrating.

Demo lessons...

Have a look at the demo lessons below and hopefully everything will be clear. There are only 4 lessons to see (there are 10 lessons in total).

Level 2 lessons

Basic information about these lessons...

The Level 2 lessons are for beginners, elementary and pre-intermediate students. In this level there are 10 lessons in total. Each lesson has 2 parts, so there are 20 individual lessons to work with.

What you will learn...

The Level 2 lessons are for beginners, elementary and pre-intermediate students. They will develop the fundamentals that you have learned in the Level 1 lessons.

Here you will learn the ability to ask questions as well as answer them. The lessons are divided according to “keywords”, so that you will be able to practise many different questions. You will also learn the fundamentals of the formal and the informal Czech language.

Additional information...

I have divided the lessons according to the starting words of questions. For example, in the first lesson there are questions starting with “What…?”, so you can ask somebody questions like: What are you doing? What do you like to do? What do you dislike to do? etc.
The other lessons start the following words: How…? How many…? How much…? Who…? When…? Where…? Where to…? What time…? Why…? Each lesson has two parts – for formal and informal language.

Structure of each lesson...

Each lesson has 4 files – 2 PDF files and 2 audio files (MP3 format). There are 2 PDF files (as well as 2 audio files). This is because here I want to also teach you the formal and informal language. In first file there is the formal language. In the second one there is the informal language. Also, as mentioned for the Level 1 lessons, in each PDF file there is a transcription of the audio file (in the left column) together with an English translation (in the right column). The English translation is there to help you understand the correct meaning of the Czech sentence. Sometimes it is actually difficult to guess the meaning, and that can be frustrating.

Level 3 lessons

Basic information about these lessons...

The Level 3 lessons are for beginners, elementary and pre-intermediate students. In this level there are 20 lessons in total. Each lesson has 4 parts, so there are 80 individual lessons to work with.

What you will learn...

The 3rd level lessons will teach you the most commonly used verbs and their use in practice, when speaking with someone. First of all, I would like to mention that the lessons also focus on asking and answering questions which you really need. Real conversations are not about monologues, but they are about questions and answers. Also, these lessons will teach you the formal and informal language. This is because, in the Czech language, it is important to use the correct language when speking with somebody. It is also important to be able to answer in a possitive or negative way. I will teach you how to do that too. There are lessons which consist of possitive and negative answers.

Additional information...

I have divided the lessons according to verbs. For example, the first lesson is about the verb “to speak”. There are commonly used questions and answers that you can use. As you work with the lesson you will quickly learn how to conjugate verbs, how to use the verbs in the formal and informal Czech language, how to use negative and positive answers, and you will be able to ask as well as answer.

The use of verbs that you can learn in this level: to speak, to have, to look for, to know, to work, to think, to read, to live, to be, to learn, to understand, to play, to listen, to write, to study, to enjoy, to do, to hear, to like.

Structure of each lesson...

Each lesson has 8 files – 4 PDF files and 4 audio files (MP3 format). There are 4 PDF files (as well as 4 audio files), because here I want to teach you the formal and the informal language, and positive and negative answers.

The first file: Formal language with possitive answers.

The second file: Formal language with negative answers.

The third file: Informal language with possitive answers.

The forth file: Informal language with negative answers.

Level 4 lessons

Basic information about these lessons...

The Level 4 lessons are for pre-intermediate, intermediate and upper-intermediate students. In this level there are 20 lessons in total. Each lesson has 3 parts, so there are 60 individual lessons to work with.

What you will learn...

These lessons will teach you to have conversations about common topics. This course is really the best of the best, but you have to have some knowledge of the Czech language in order to work with this course. I will also teach you about different tenses (such as the past tense), as well as different persons (1st, 2nd, 3rd persons), etc.

Additional information...

First of all I have to mention that when I started creating this course for Czech learners, I started doing these lessons in Level 4. It is very useful, because it will teach you to talk about the most commonly used topics topics. These lessons are the best of all from the entire course. But they should be studied after you have some knowledge of the Czech language.

Lessons that you can find here...

Lessons: My introduction, my dream, leisure activities, teaching Czech, my family, my girlfriend, capital of the Czech Republic, Czeach Republic, Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet, my favourite movie, my favourite series, my favourite book, silent period in language acquisition, learning languages by listening, multilinguism in the Czech Republic, etc.

After finishing this course, you will be able to conduct conversations about yourself, your family, your girlfriend (boyfriend), the city where you live, your country, your favourite movie or series, etc. etc.

Structure of each lesson...

There are 3 parts in each lesson.

The first part is the “Main part”, and you should work with this part first. There are many different commonly used topics that I will mention later.

The second part of each lesson is the “Questions and answers” part. In this part, there are questions which are related to the main part. In the main part, I talk about a specific topic. In the question and answers part, I ask YOU WHILE YOU ARE LISTENING TO IT some questions related to the content that was in the main part. It should not be passive listening. This is because, as you are listening, you should think about the answer and say it, at least in your mind. There are many different types of questions.

The third part of each lesson is the “Grammatical part”. This is because it will teach you some of the grammar in a natural way, without studying any grammar rules. This part is written in the present tense. The grammatical part is written in a different tense, than the main part, or in a different person (3rd person), it depends on the lesson. For example, there is a lesson “My family”. In the main part I talk about my family, so I use the 1st person, but in the grammatical part I talk about my friend’s family, so I use the 3rd person. You will see how verb conjugations work, but not by studying grammar rules. An another example is that there is a lesson “My languages”. In the main part I talk about languages that I know now, and languages that I am currently learning. But in the grammatical part, I talk about myself in the past – what languages I knew when I was at high school and what languages I was learning there. So you can see that by going though this part, you can learn quite a lot – not only about topics, which is extremely useful, but also how to use the past tense or a different person.
